The Story: Gopal (Shahrukh Khan) is in love with Radha (Madhuri Dixit) ever since they were kids. As adults, they get married.

There are two things Gopal disapproves of, after their marriage: Radha's unemployed younger brother Prashant (Atul Agnihotri) who lives with them, and Suraj (Salman Khan), Radha's childhood friend.

Suraj is quite handsome and a very famous singer and Radha who is very fond of him, talks to him quite often on the phone. The hardworking Gopal, who loves his wife dearly, wants complete attention from her, when he feels Radha gives undue attention to her friend Suraj, he grows gradually very suspicious and believes that Radha and Suraj are secretly seeing each other, resulting in throwing Radha out of the house after his jealousy completely overwhelms him.

Radha who equally loves her husband and never fully understood the turmoil he was going through, receives a note of divorce from him and is devastated. Prashant and Suraj try to talk to Gopal, but Radha forbids it. Finally, Suraj arranges a meeting with Gopal—and Gopal arrives with a loaded gun.

Suraj is taken aback upon finding that his platonic relationship with his best friend Radha has caused Gopal with such misconstruings, They argue and Gopal finally leaves. Suraj talks to Radha, she thinks it is entirely her fault: If she had understood that Gopal disapproved of her close relationship to Suraj, she would have never seen Suraj again.

Suraj leaves her and promises to never see her again. He talks to his blind girlfriend Suman (Aishwarya Rai) about what happened and Suman finally talks reason into Gopal. Gopal arrives the moment Radha tries to commit suicide, Gopal therefore realises his misapprehensions and the purity of Radha's heart, they make up and visit Suraj on the sets of his latest stage show: Gopal apologizes to him and his and Radha's relationship is saved.
